These last two weeks, we have hit up tons of events hosted by incredible local organizations and had many fantastic conversations with the amazing neighbors of District 2. We’ve met dozens of inspiring Portlanders – friends of the houseless, teachers, labor organizers, and artists. People have been recognizing Marnie at coffee shops, at the grocery store, and at events for organizations. You all are the people that Marnie is going to need to stick behind her for the campaign and while she’s in office so she is always held accountable to the community that she represents.
We are scheduling several house parties in the next month, and door-knocking events kick off in mid-August through September. There are a number of other strong campaigns all across the city – it looks like this new city council could be a very promising bunch – certainly different than Portland has ever seen before.
The way those candidates grow strong and remain strong against big money is if they collect those small donations - just $5 helps because it qualifies for the public financing match program. That’s why I’m asking you to pitch in to Marnie’s grassroots campaign today.
Marnie and I have been working hard and having a great time. I can see Marnie is ready to show up and deliver for the district, stay connected to grassroots efforts in neighborhoods, and reestablish our community’s energy into a productive force.
With Gratitude,
Emory
